New Utility Customer Information

Welcome to the City of Hart! Thank you for choosing us as your community to live in. There are certain steps that need to be completed in order to establish a utility account with the City. You will first need to fill out an application to open a new account.

The application needs to be brought to City Hall along with a picture ID, $200.00 (refundable) deposit and a rental/lease/mortgage document to show the location of the property.

Homeowners: Your deposit will be applied to your account once 12 consecutive payments have been made on your account.

Renters: Your deposit will be applied to your last bill, any overage will be refunded to you with a forwarding address.

You will be billed for electricity, water, sewer, and garbage (the City will order you a trash receptacle). If you need natural gas, you should contact DTE.

Restoration of Electrical Services

Once service has been discontinued, the City shall restore service promptly upon a customer’s request when the cause for discontinuance has been cured or all money owed on an account has been paid in full.

This fee will be increased by $10.00 per occurrence for all additional times a service is restored after the first occurrence. This $10.00 fee provision shall not apply to voluntary discontinuance.

If the service requires disconnection at the pole the following charges will apply:

Normal Business Hours Reconnect $110.00

Help Keep Our Sewer Lines Running Clear.

Don't Flush those wipesNow that more people are staying home and using more toilet paper, disinfecting wipes, baby wipes, etc.; we at the City of Hart would like to remind you that even though the packaging may say flushable that doesn't mean it should be flushed down the toilet. The only item that you should be flushing down your toilet is toilet paper. None of those other items will biodegrade in the wastewater system and the very germs and other materials that you are trying to dispose of you will be exposing City employees to when they must clear the blocked sewer lines from those items.

These are just a couple of examples of how those items block the mains and can cause big problems in your home.
